Meeting New Friends
I am really getting bored here in the office. Not many works need to do recently and no body in the lab except me and YanQi. Maryam is taking MC for these 2 days coz of her diarrhea, Kunn is still in Germany for conference, Uncle Shoucang (my boss) is seldomly there too, really a quitest lab I've ever visited. You all please come back soon, thus we can talk cock again, hahahha. I'm so sien right now. I think may be blogging is a good solution to get rid of it.

Ok here the story goes...

Last few days I was really exhausted, really! I went out from my hall at 7am to work and came back at 11.30pm for 3 days consecutively. Hence I could only sleep for about 5 hours per day. Fortunately at least those tiring days were compensated by lots of laughter when I was hanging out. Yup, I spent those days together with some new friends from University of Indonesia who had study tour to Singapore. Most of them are from Faculty of Economy. I got one close high school friend in the group, she is Lufi. There were 8 of them who came here, 3 gals and 5 guys. If you asked me who are their name one by one, I can answer " I forgot" hahaha. So many of them and I got short term memory for spelling others' name too... *sigh*.

Basically the program was arranged by Risyad cs representing Bingo, an entrepreneurship club in NUS. He is also my high school close friend till now, and the event itself was really successful, as graded 4.50 out of 5 by Bingo committee. Congratz Syad! Besides the UI guys, I got also new friends from NUS i.e. Vivi, Todo and Faisal. They are so friendly and nice anyway. What I couldn't believe is Faisal has been staying in Singapore since his primary 1 but his Indonesian slang is still good, but he pretends not so coz he said he has limited vocab *sigh*. I wouldn't know if he didn't tell me about that. Nice to meet you all guys, looking forward to hang out with you all again! Within those days, we managed to go to many places like Sentosa Island, Orchard, Esplanade, etc. Because I seldomly go there, so it's a nice event for me also...Moreover I like to be a tourist guide hahahaha. C u again friends in Jakarta...

Here are some photos taken (credited to Lufi cs)...

What A Wonderful Night...

Hmm, so sorry blog! I really have abandoned you for weeks. Hehehe, but thanks for Heather (Hi there, Hyvaa Paivaa! ) for reminding me about the rotten CNY story. I was so busy with the hectic labwork recently and really have no idea what to write, but got it now!

Ok, here we go...

Last Thursday was our attachment student 2nd outting with farewell party concurrently. As had planned before we'd go to Geylang Area to have Durian Party. I was really drooling since past weeks before really going there. The best idea was Maryam managed to bring her camera to our very strict Jurong Island! (Hehehe, don't ask me how she did it, secret! But it's really fun to know her genius idea. Hahahaha). For your info, this island is very crazy about the IP (Intellectual Property) of Singapore related to our own researchs, so no wonder why no camera allowed. Some people thought wrongly about the banner in Jurong Island checkpoint (really! it's like when we're entering boarding room in airport, we need to scan our bags, etc. I remember one day Annie Wong brought a knife-shaped thumbdrive...then the police thought it was! She didn't manage to reach the bus on time eventually...so seow!), henceforth JI, indicated that no camera allowed, they thought it's only valid in checkpoint, not the whole island. Hahahaha, good thought!

In the morning before I came to the lab we took some pictures, coz it was Eunice Goh's (a nice friend of mine in my office from Singapore Poly, really cute, nice and helpful. I remember her in the way she first opened my thumbdrive cap. She was fooling around herself. I was laughing crazily at that time. Hahahaha.) last day of attachment, hence at least she managed to snap our funny day. So sad not to see her again next week, but she planned to study at NTU after graduation, so good!

The photo snapping continued to our lab. It's really weird and dangerous of course, if some strict bosses knew about this, we could be charged! Fortunately, Maryam managed to take pictures of I and her, three of us (me, YanQi, her) together and lastly she together with Kunn! Hmm, yup, Kunn is my new acquaintance in the lab, he's a research fellow from Indonesia (but graduated from USA, no wonder he speaks perfect English!), and in fact we are neighbour back in Jakarta. I live in Jatinegara whereas he's in Cipinang area. But somehow he seldomly talks to me, don't know why. I'm afraid he thinks I'm a real geek, hahahahah. Once he told Maryam why he did so, but really really not a good excuse and really wrong perception about me *sigh*. In fact I know that he's a very very nice and caring person, once he spoke to me using Indonesian slang. It's just need more time to be close with him. If you see him for the 1st time, you won't belive how smart he is and how young he is being a real researcher (he is only 27 I guess), people will be bluffed by his own gaul outlooking, hahahah! He's still single anyway, hahaha, anyone?. Pssst, by the way the cleaner auntie in my lab admires him so much :p

Back to the topic...

After our working hour finished, we (me, Ronn, Zhang Peng, Yandan, Lijun, Eunice, Maryam, Annie, Karen and Liang Wei) were heading off to Outram Park MRT, continued to Aljunied and reached Geylang eventually. I know most of you might think Geylang is related to Red-Light area (Houses that have red number on their doors indicated that they are prostituted area). It's true. When we passed by that area to have our dinner, so many of those prostitutes were standing on the trotoir. But I could not say they are chio bu, but just somewhat incredible! OMG! It's only 7pm anyway...it'll be even worse at late hours...

The dinner itself was very common. No special thing, moreover I had no appetite at all. The most important part was the Durian! OMG, it's really fragrant, just sweet (not so bitter) and not so ex. Because Maryam and I decided not to join my fellow friends to go to another red light area, so we reached the Durian stall 1st. We shared our 1st Durian and ate them slowly, also continued to talk more about Kunn, me, YanQi etc. hahaha really funny.

Huh, that night was really awesome for me. I can feel that I am so glad to meet all of them, good friends to share, to laugh, to think, to discuss, etc. Hahaha. I just cannot imagine how loud I am if I laugh in the office because of them...That's why I won't ever regret that I cancelled my overseas attachment last time...

Here are some photos taken on Eunice's farewell dinner...(Credited to Maryam, who has diarrhea right now, take care ya!)

Of course not forgetting the photo together with my lovely and nice labmates, YanQi and Maryam. With both of them I can laugh a lot and feel not being in a boring lab, hahahhahaha....Nice to meet you all

Chinese New Year Goodies
Few days before CNY I and some of my IA friends ( Yandan, Zhang Peng, Liang Wei, Annie Wong, Eunice, Lijun ) went out to Chinatown to buy some stuffs. They bought some cute all-red colour CNY decorations whereas I bought some nice and cute Jelly and Mochi, oranges for greeting my lovely supervisor and very sweet tangerines. We departed right after our working time finished and hang out until around 11pm. Hehehe.

Then surprisingly on Friday (Jan 27) while I was doing my lab work (huh, no body there except me and Yan Qi, all in CNY mood, *sigh*), my supervisor gave me Hong Bao (red packet-red) and 2 oranges (must be even number!). What a nice supervisor...So touching, this is my 1st time in life getting Hong Bao (coz I never celebrated CNY...). Fortunately I had the same idea with Yan Qi to give him goodies, so ashame if not. You should know that for Chinese if someone gives you Hong Bao , that means he/she is married.

Here it is, cute isn't it???

Moreover because last week was still in CNY mood ( my supervisor said so...), I bought Daifuku Mochi Ice Cream to indulge my sweet tooth.

Here they are together with so called CNY Jelly and Mochi...hehehe

1. Fruit Jelly, 2. Mochi, 3&4. Daifuku Mochi Ice Cream

NTU Campus Views
Hmm. I just want to post some NTU views during Chinese New Year (Day 2- 30 Jan 2006). Oh my god, it was like a real dead city. No body walking around and all hall canteens closed (except muslim food). Really pathetic...Fortunately it's back to normal now!
